Osborne Macharia (b. 1986, Nairobi, Kenya) is a self-taught commercial photographer and visual artist. He holds a with a Bachelors in Architecture. Macharia’s work attempts to embrace history, present culture, and future aspirations of people of colour whilst telling a different narrative about the continent of Africa.
This is a postcard of the photograph of Bobo is a fictional hero and leader of the Kipipiri . Adorned in regal clothing her hair, majestically and gracefully posed on her head. The warrior queen would walk across the village without uttering a word. This was a message to the village women that at midnight they were going to visit the men deep in the forest. Her hair was twisted and curled in a complex design to form a route map to the caves that only her 2nd in command would interpret.
