Kumasi J. Barnett (b. 1974, Baltimore, Maryland) is an African American artist currently living and works in Brooklyn, New York. He earned a BA from the University of Maryland as well as an MFA from the Ohio State University.

In this work, the artist appropriates comic book language and transforms it to challenge the typecast role of the black body in these popular narratives. By making the Amazing Black-Man the hero of the story, he questions stereotypes and prejudices.
