Postcard – Multi-Colour Wangari Mathenge When We See Us A5
$3.50
Wangari Mathenge was born in 1973, Nairobi, Kenya and is now based in Chicago. Her work is dedicated to the investigation and incorporation of an integrated visual testimony of the oft-discounted black female experience within the context of existing simultaneously within two cultures; here, both traditional African society and the Diaspora.
Wangari Mathenge postcard from the new exhibition titled `When We See Us: A Century of Black Figuration in Painting’. Artists explore different themes, including that of `Repose’. Lounging, hands locked behind our heads, relishing the peace that comes with being still, we rest, unwind and indulge. Fully reclined, sinking into soft plush sofas, limbs stretched out, there is no rush as we revel in idleness. When in solitude, we sit, stare, dream, introspect.
A5 postcard.
