Zemba Luzamba transforms the everyday experiences of African migrants into captivating figurative paintings that subtly comment on a range of socio-political issues. His work is informed by his own experience moving from the Democratic Republic of the Congo to Cape Town, South Africa.

Zemba Luzamba postcard from the new exhibition titled `When We See Us: A Century of Black Figuration in Painting’. Artists explore different themes, including that of `Repose’. Lounging, hands locked behind our heads, relishing the peace that comes with being still, we rest, unwind and indulge. Fully reclined, sinking into soft plush sofas, limbs stretched out, there is no rush as we revel in idleness. When in solitude, we sit, stare, dream, introspect.
